How can I send my own fabrics to the maker ?

Modified on Fri, 5 Jun at 2:04 PM

⚠️ Read first. Any fabric you send is at your own risk. We take no responsibility for loss, shortage, damage, or rejection at any stage. Acceptance is never guaranteed: the maker can refuse a fabric for any reason. A USD $20/meter handling fee applies, which covers coordination only. Full terms in the Disclaimer below.

From time to time you may have a client who wants to send their own personal fabric to the maker, or you may have access to fabrics we don't provide. Here's how to do it.

What's needed — at a glance

  1. Order placed in the builder using the correct #SENDINGMY... code
  2. The ASR # we generate (matches your fabric to the order)
  3. The packing sheet (xlsx) filled out and printed, included in the shipment
  4. A sticker on the FACE SIDE of the fabric: ASR #, fabric #, total meters
  5. A sticker showing the fabric direction (grain / nap)
  6. Tracking # sent to help@mtm.design and amanda@mtm.design

Handling fee: USD $20.00 / meter applies to any fabric you send. This is a data-handling fee — we don't touch the fabric, we only handle the data and coordination to match it to the order.

Step by step

  1. Place the order first using #SENDINGMYFABRIC in the builder, only on the placements you'll use it for (main body, lapel contrast, lining, etc.).
  2. For lining or contrast specifically, use the matching codes instead: #SENDINGMYLINING and #SENDINGMYCONTRAST.
  3. We generate an ASR # — the key info that matches your fabric to the order #.
  4. On the xlsx packing sheet, fill out the fabric # AND total meters being shipped. Print it, include it in the shipment.
  5. Sticker the FACE SIDE (right side) of the fabric with: ASR #, fabric #, total meters.
  6. Add a second sticker showing the direction of the fabric (grain / nap).
  7. Ship it and send the tracking # to help@mtm.design and amanda@mtm.design.

Before you ship, you are responsible for confirming

  • The full length being sent is free of damage, stains, flaws, or defects. We do not inspect the fabric, so any condition issue is yours to catch before shipping.
  • The quantity being sent matches what the garment requires, with enough margin. We do not count or measure the fabric.

Important notes

  • Do NOT use #SENDINGMYFABRIC as main fabric, contrast, AND lining on the same item. It bugs out on the maker's end. Use the placement-specific codes instead.
  • The fabric # is just so the maker can verify the received fabric matches their system. Make up your own # if needed. What matters most: the same info on BOTH the packing list and the sticker.

Fabrics that will not be accepted

  • Embroideries
  • Fabrics with beads

Beyond these, a fabric may be refused for any reason the maker determines — e.g. weight (g/m²) or other technical limits. We can't always know in advance, so sending a fabric doesn't guarantee it'll be accepted.

Disclaimer

MTM.Design takes no responsibility for any fabric you send. Once it is shipped, it is entirely at your own risk. We are not liable for any loss, damage, delay, defect, shortage, mishandling, or rejection of the fabric, at any stage, whether in transit, at the maker, or during production. We do not receive, inspect, count, weigh, insure, or guarantee the fabric in any way.

The USD $20/meter fee covers coordination only. It is not insurance and creates no guarantee or liability on our part regarding the fabric or the finished item.

By sending fabric, you accept that the result, including the possibility of a flawed or unusable garment, is your own risk.
