There are many different items that can be created and ordered with MTM.Design from a variety of manufacturers. This article will explain how to create a shirt, and introduce the other made-to-measure garments available to you.

From a customer profile, you can create items from the "New Cart" button (highlighted in red below).

This will take you to a page that shows all of the different types of garments you can make. You can only select and design one item at a time. For this example, we will select a shirt to design.

After selecting "Dress Shirt", you will see a screen that has a couple of different options. You can "Create Dress Shirt" (highlighted in red below), start from or search in existing demos, or select a saved template from your Design Room under Get Inspired (see how to add templates to your Design Room here). We will select "Create Dress Shirt" for this example.

After selecting "Create Dress Shirt", you will be prompted to enter a name for your shirt, and you will be able to change this later, if necessary. Upon hitting "Save", you will see the shirt builder.

Key Details for Selecting Garments

  • Fabric Code: Enter a valid fabric code in the "Keywords or numbers" field. If the fabric doesn't appear, try:
    • Entering the fabric ID in a different format (e.g., excluding letters or extra numbers).
    • Granting yourself access to the fabric book (guide available here).
    • Using a fabric not on the platform but available through a supplier (use the 0-SUIT process shown here).
    • Sending your own fabric to the maker (instructions here).
  • Filters: Add filters to your fabric search (highlighted in orange).
  • Selecting Fabric: Choose fabric by clicking "Select" next to a swatch (highlighted in purple).
  • Customization: Click on elements (Fabric, Collar, Cuff, Back, Pocket, etc.) to customize, or hit "NEXT" to proceed through options (highlighted in red with an arrow).
  • Exit to Cart: Click the shopping cart icon to return to the cart page (highlighted in red with an arrow).

Note: The builders for jackets, suits, overcoats, etc., are similar but have features specific to each garment type (e.g., lapels for suits, fasteners for trousers).

When you get to the end of the design, you will see a Summary page. This will review every feature you've selected for your shirt. When you're done, you can add this shirt to the cart by clicking the "Add to Cart" button (highlighted in red below).
