MTM.Studio can calculate retail pricing for custom garments using a clear and flexible formula. This guide outlines how the pricing is generated and how you can customize inputs for accuracy. When the feature is live, you will see the Retail Price in the custom-garment builder and on the Cart page.

To activate the feature, please write to Help@mtm.design and our Customer Support team will take the appropriate steps.

1. Retail Price Formula

The Studio uses the following calculation:

Retail Price = ((Fabric Cost per Meter × Fabric Length) + Make Cost + Estimated Shipping Cost) × Brand Markup Multiplier

Here is an example using a Jacket with a set CMT (make cost).

  - Make cost: $175.00

  - Fabric length: 2 meters

  - Fabric cost per meter: $72.00

  - Brand markup multiplier: 3

  - Estimated garment shipping cost for jacket: $30.00

Calculation done by the Studio: ((72 * 2.0) + 175.0 + 30.0) * 3.0 = 1,047.0

2. Rounding

The Studio automatically rounds up to the nearest $5 increment.

In this case, here's what would result:

Calculation: [ / 5.0] * 5.0 = $1,050.00

3. What’s Not Included Automatically

Retail prices may vary due to hidden costs that are not captured in the formula, such as:

* Fabric shipment costs

---> Different external suppliers will charge a variable rate for shipment of their fabrics

* External linings or trims

---> As mentioned above, external suppliers charge for lining and the varying costs to ship them.

* Extra make costs for special requests

---> If a design feature you select is not on the Studio, or is a handmade feature, you could be subject to additional charges.

* Variation on fabric cuts (depending on supplier & measurements submitted for an order)

---> Sizing of fabric cut and shipped will vary for all external suppliers, while RC will cut generally the same amount for each garment type.

Always review final pricing to ensure margin coverage.

4. Setting Shipping Estimates

Shipping estimates are set by the MTM.Design in the Studio and can be updated anytime. Use these as a guide for efficiency (based on 8–10 items per garment shipment):

 - Shirt: $20

 - Jacket, Trouser, Waistcoat: $30

 - Suit or Overcoat: $40

 - 3-Piece Suit: $50

The maker does not charge shipping cost per item, but rather by box. These estimates can vary at any time, given external factors such as duties, rates, or more.

These inputs help keep pricing predictable while maintaining profitability.

5. Fabric Usage and Length

Fabric usage for any given order can change depending on the supplier, size of the order, etc. For example, Dormeuil may cut 3.6 meters of fabric for a 2-piece suit order, whereas RC will always cut 2.5 meters. Gladson could cut 3.2 meters for the same order. This variation is standard in the industry and we can expect external suppliers to measure, calculate, send and charge differing amounts depending on an order.

Here's a guide for what RC/Kutesmart will most likely always cut for orders placed using their own stocked fabrics.

Setting these parameters in the Studio ensures consistent, accurate retail pricing across all garments!
