You've probably noticed the Body Shape box at the top of the measurements page. This section is completely optional, and isn't required for production of a garment using any measurement method with RC. It can be extremely helpful, however, for customers who have unique body types, larger or smaller-than-average builds, or who need adjustments made to the basic patterns to ensure a better fit (especially if you use the Try-on garment method for taking measurements).

Here are descriptions of each posture setting and what effects they can have on a finished garment.

1. Front Shoulder

This setting relates to the direction of the front of a customer's shoulder (forward or backward). When you hover over the setting, a small question mark appears, and when clicked, will display the following diagram:

You can use a try on garment (if you use try ons for measurements) to assess the front shoulder positioning, as it can be apparent which direction the shoulder is going in a jacket.

Depending on what setting you choose, this can eliminate excess fabric from the front panels of the jacket/shirt/overcoat (in front of the shoulders), or reduce excess fabric over the back panels behind the armpit/shoulder blades.

2. Left Shoulder & Right Shoulder

Both of these settings are related to the slope measurement taken of the left and right shoulders, using the shoulder level tool.  Please note: these can be different slopes!

You can select a slope for each shoulder, or leave them blank

3. Stomach

There is no diagram that appears when you click on stomach, however there's 2 reasons to use the prominent setting:

1) Client has a large, portly belly;

2) Client's body mass falls primarily on the front of the body (over 75-80% when assessing from the side).

You can leave this setting blank, or select Normal

4. Back

This posture setting is based on the client's overall back posture;

5. Arms

This setting will adjust the pitch of the arms. You need to look at the angle of the arms from the side, and determine if adjusting the setting will help reduce/ease any creasing or wrinkling you might be seeing. If not, you can leave this setting blank or at Regular
