Shoulder Padding

Modified on Thu, 10 Sep at 11:30 AM

The thickness of the shoulder pad. Left and right are two separate settings on the measurement page, called Left Padding and Right Padding, so a client can carry a different pad on each side.

Options

  • 0.25" (0.6 cm)
  • 0.50" (1.2 cm), marked DEFAULT in the list
  • 0.75" (2.0 cm)
  • 1" (2.4 cm)

The same four are offered on each side. Leaving a side empty sends nothing for it, so the garment is built with the standard pad for that style. The DEFAULT label marks 0.50" as the usual choice when you do set it.

Garments it affects

Jackets, including the jacket in a suit or a three-piece. On Boya styles it also applies to waistcoats and overcoats. The measurement page shows every setting whatever you order, so setting it on a client who buys nothing else changes nothing.

When in doubt

Leave both sides empty. Most clients need no body shape change at all, and it is easier to add one on a later order than to unwind one. See Body Shape and fit: start here.

When to use it

It's very common for shoulders to be different, and using Padding can help make a shoulder symmetrical. Also, if the client has very Sloping shoulders (such as a C or D), you can utilize a pad to help support the slope.

This article explains the setting. It is not an assessment of your client. We can explain what the setting does, but the choice stays with you and your brand.
