Back Collar

Modified on Thu, 10 Sep at 9:02 AM

Raises or lowers the back of the collar. Our own note for this setting says it is used to remove neck rolls on jackets, and that it works independently from the Back setting, so you can use it without changing the client's back posture.

Options

  • Raise Back of Collar 0.4", 0.25", 0.1"
  • Normal
  • Lower Back of Collar 0.1", 0.25", 0.4", 0.6", 0.8"

Values are in inches. Looking at what stores actually pick, lowering is the normal case and raising is rare, so treat a raise as the exception.

Garments it affects

Jackets, including the jacket in a suit or a three-piece. The measurement page shows every setting whatever you order, so setting it on a client who buys nothing else changes nothing.

When in doubt

Normal. Most clients need no body shape change at all, and it is easier to add one on a later order than to unwind one. See Body Shape and fit: start here.

How to recognize

This setting can help reduce a collar roll (horizontal bunching on upper back) or close a collar cap around the back of the neck. Visible collar issues that tailors can normally modify in alterations can be modified here.

This article explains the setting. It is not an assessment of your client. We can explain what the setting does, but the choice stays with you and your brand.
